Playing in the Desert

Ok, so it’s been 4 months since my last post. Sigh. Lots of plans, and never any writing.

Today we borrowed a side-by-side to go out into the desert and play. We wanted to see if we would get any enjoyment out of one before we considered buying one. Well, let’s just say we had fun.

We were only out for about an hour, but that was long enough to come across a “house” out in the middle of the desert. It’s been there a while, and unoccupied for quite a while.

Last weekend we went up to a bar in the middle of the desert with some new friends (Denis & Michele). The bar called “The Desert Bar” or the Nellie “E” Saloon.

This place is amazing. It is 5 miles out into the desert and only open from noon until 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday, but only during the winter. Since they are out in the middle of nowhere, they run the entire place off of solar. It’s quite incredible. Denis counted about 150 cars/trucks/side-by-sides in the parking lot. So lots of people know about this gem.

We arrived there about 1/2 hour after it opened and it was already packed.

They have live music, great food and cheap booze. What more could you ask for? 🙂

Thanks for the pictures Denis!

That’s it for us playing in the desert over the past 10 days. It took us a while (almost 4 months) but we managed to get out there and have some fun.
